5 Food Combinations You Must Avoid In Summers


The summer season is here. As one can expect, came the nearly unbearable heat. Aside from the usual heat, summer can be very bad for us if we eat certain food combinations. So, here is a list of the food combinations, one must avoid to keep their digestion in check.

Summer means an array of delicious, watery, fibre-rich fruits that are extremely beneficial for the body. We must be mindful of our food consumption during the season, as some food combinations could prove to be very bad for our gut. Check out the list of food combinations to avoid, below:

Fruits and Protein-rich Foods:

Mixing fruits with protein-rich food items like yoghurt or cheese could sound like a healthy diet but known to cause digestive problems. The fruits consist of natural sugar which could digest easily but the proteins take time to break down. If eaten together, it could lead to bloating and discomfort.

Starchy and Acidic Food:

Such foods include green, leafy salads sprinkled with vinegar or any citrus juices. It enhances the flavour but, if you mix it with starch-rich food items, it could lead to indigestion.

Melons and Dairy:

Melons are some of the most popular summer fruits, eaten for their delectable taste and hydrating properties. However, combining this fruit with any dairy product can give you indigestion along with gas and bloating.

Coldrinks and Meals:

For many people, cold drinks are a must to curb their thirst, especially after a meal. But, one must know that consuming these drinks with meals can slow the process of digestion. So, instead of a cold drink, you can choose a drink at room temperature or simply warm drinks during meals. The cold beverages can be consumed in between meals.

Sweet and Acidic Fruits:

The combination of sweet fruits like bananas and acidic fruits like orange or pineapple can give the condition of indigestion. So, combine only those fruits which have similar acidic levels.
