Akshaya Tritiya, a significant Hindu festival, is known for its auspiciousness and many activities are conducted during this time. These include buying gold and silver, starting a new business and also marriage. According to the Hindu calendar, this year Akshaya Tritiya falls on May 10. However, in a rare occurrence after almost 23 years, there will be no auspicious time for marriage ceremonies on this day. This unusual circumstance is attributed to the setting of Venus and Jupiter on Akshaya Tritiya, rendering it devoid of any auspicious timing for marriages.

Astrologer Pandit Kalki Ram from Ayodhya explains that in Sanatan Dharma, the festival of Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated with great enthusiasm, and it is traditionally considered auspicious for buying jewellery and performing other significant deeds. This includes ceremonies like marriage and tonsuring. However, this year marks a unique occurrence after 23 years, as there will be no auspicious timing for marriage ceremonies on Akshaya Tritiya. This is due to the celestial phenomenon of Jupiter and Venus setting on that day, resulting in the absence of auspicious timings for such ceremonies.

According to traditional beliefs, the rising of Jupiter and Venus is considered auspicious for marriage ceremonies. Venus symbolizes luxury and marital happiness, while Jupiter represents joy and prosperity for the bride. Scriptural teachings emphasize the significance of both planets being in an elevated position during marriage ceremonies. Marriages are typically not conducted when Jupiter and Venus are setting, as this is believed to be inauspicious. As neither Jupiter nor Venus are rising this Akshaya Tritiya, there will be no wedding bells during this time.

In July, auspicious marriage timings are available on July 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. Following this period, Chaturmas will commence on July 17 and continue until November 12. In Hindu tradition, significant ceremonies such as marriage and housewarming are typically scheduled after Chaturmas, as this period is considered a good time for conducting auspicious functions.
