Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi, a festival dedicated to Lord Ganesha, revered as the deity of wisdom, success, and prosperity, is celebrated by devotees seeking to overcome obstacles and usher in happiness. This auspicious occasion, known for its significance in granting blessings and removing hurdles, particularly resonates with women struggling with fertility issues. But when exactly does Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi occur?

This festival falls on the Chaturthi date of the Krishna Paksha of the Baisakh month, earning it the title of Sankashti Chaturthi of Baisakh. During this time, devotees observe a fast and offer prayers to Lord Ganesha, culminating with the worship of the moon at night, known as Arghya. It is believed that observing this fast can lead to the removal of obstacles and hindrances by the benevolent Lord Ganesha, who is known for fulfilling the wishes of his devotees.

Dr. Krishna Kumar Bhargava, an astrologer from Tirupati, sheds light on the specifics of this auspicious occasion. According to the Vedic calendar, the Chaturthi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha of the Baisakh month will commence on April 27 at 08:17 AM. The worship of the Moon and the Arghya ritual during the Chaturthi Tithi holds paramount importance. Therefore, the fast of Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi will be observed on Saturday, April 27. The Chaturthi Tithi will commence after sunrise on April 27 and conclude on the morning of April 28. The moonrise is anticipated to occur at 10:23 PM, signalling the time for moon worship and offering of Arghya.

The fast of Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi falls under the influence of Parigha Yog and Jyestha Nakshatra. Parigha Yog will commence on the morning of April 27 and last until 03:24 AM on April 28, while Jyestha Nakshatra will span from the morning of April 27 until 04:28 AM on April 28.

Regarding auspicious timings, Brahma Muhurat on Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi is slated from 04:17 AM to 05:00 AM, while the Abhijeet Muhurat is from 11:53 AM to 12:45 PM. The fasting period is considered propitious from 07:22 AM to 09:01 AM. Devotees are advised to engage in worship, observe the fast in the morning and offer Arghya to the moon at night.

Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi coincides with Bhadra Muhurat, spanning from 05:44 AM to 08:17 AM, further enhancing its significance for devotees.
