WWE action made a roaring return with a new episode of Friday Night SmackDown. The show was held at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
Several contests were advertised for the night, including a contract signing between Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul for a champion-versus-champion match at King and Queen of the Ring.
Bianca Belair and Tiffany Stratton kicked off the show in a Queen of the Ring quarterfinals. SmackDown’s latest episode also featured a tag-team match between DIY and Legado del Fantasma. In the main event, the fans were treated to a fight between Randy Orton and Carmelo Hayes.
The contract signing
This segment began with Logan Paul coming down to the ring with his entourage. SmackDown Manager Nick Aldis introduced the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Cody Rhodes. Before signing the contract, Cody told Logan that the honeymoon period for him is over. He signed the papers before hitting one of Logan’s entourage with a right hand and a powerbomb to the table. He then threw the United States Championship at him before leaving the arena.

What’s next for AJ Styles
During a backstage segment, AJ Styles was seen having some words with Bryon Saxton. Styles was being told that he had an unbelievable fight with Cody Rhodes at Backlash. He came close to beating Cody but lost the match. Styles had a chance to redeem himself in the King of the Ring but he lost to Randy Orton. Saxton then told the Phenomenal One that next week they would go to Nick Aldis’ office and find out what’s next for the superstar.
Orton qualifies for King of the Ring semi-finals
Having beaten AJ Styles last week, Randy Orton sealed his place in the King of the Ring quarterfinals against Carmelo Hayes. The match-up began with Hayes trying to take an early advantage by attacking Orton’s leg. After some back-and-forth action, Hayes tried to capitalise on the Viper with a springboard off the second rope. But Orton grabbed him mid-air with an RKO to seal a comfortable pinfall win.

- Jade Cargill vs Nia Jax in a Queen of the Ring quarterfinals match – Nia Jax won the match via disqualification after Cargill hit her with a chair.
- DIY vs Legado del Fantasma – DIY won by pinfall after hitting Humberto Carrilo with the Meet in the Middle.
- Carmelo Hayes vs Randy Orton in King of the Ring quarterfinals match – Orton beat Hayes with the RKO to seal a pinfall win.
