Copilot AI Assistant Now Available On Telegram: What Is It And How It Works

Microsoft is ready to battle Meta AI with its own Copilot chatbot now moving to one of the popular messaging apps, Telegram. The company has basically introduced an official Copilot bot for Telegram users who can do basic AI tasks like answering questions, summarise articles and documents that can be tedious and even generate code for various computer languages.

Most of the tasks offered by Copilot on Telegram are text-based, so you cannot use the AI chatbot to create images with prompts, at least for the time being.

Copilot AI in Telegram: How To Get Started

So, how can you activate the Microsoft AI chatbot in the messaging app and what all do you need to get started with the bot for your tasks.

First up, search for the Microsoft Copilot bot in Telegram and make sure you click on the right version with the blue badge next to its icon. Now, the messaging app will ask for your mobile number to verify the user and probably to make sure the user is not a bot themselves. We’re not sure if this process is really needed, especially when Telegram claims to be a privacy-focused messaging app, and the person using the bot through the platform has already signed up using their number in the first place.

Once the messaging app verifies the number, it will share a list of tips that can help you make use of the Copilot chatbot. Here’s a list of things that Copilot offers on Telegram for users as of now:

– Answer questions

– Creative writing

– Code generation

– Translations

– Summarisations

– Maths and equations

– Recommendations and more

Copilot on Telegram is free so Microsoft has put a daily limit of 30-turn exchanges which includes the back-and-forth messaging interaction between the user and the bot.

More AI Chatbots Coming to Messages

Microsoft isn’t the first to bring its AI chatbot to a messaging app. Meta has already done it with its own chatbot for WhatsApp and Instagram users earlier this year. Some of the features are still in beta but you can already use the AI chatbot on WhatsApp to generate AI images and soon, it will support AI images for profile photos as well.

Similarly, Google is taking its Gemini AI chatbot to the native Messages app which comes pre-loaded on most Android phones but selectively used by people. Microsoft clearly realises the need to tap into more platforms for its AI push and bringing Copilot to PCs, and mobile is one thing but baking it into a popular messaging app allows the bot to expand its reach further and quickly.
