Police officers of the elite Flying Squad of London Police caught two armed robbers while they were looting designer sunglasses in a raid on a designer eyewear store in west London’s Chiswick. The footage of the incident has gone viral on social media.

The video, recorded on security cam, shows the two thieves smashing through the glass door of the Eye Studio Opticians in Chiswick. They had just begun shoving the sunglasses into bags when cops who specialise in targeting robbers surrounded them and ordered them to put down the items and surrender. One cop is seen brandishing a taser. Both men were seen complying with the orders and were handcuffed.

The entire series of events were caught on a Ring doorbell camera at the back of the shop. Scotland Yard officials told the London Evening Standard that both men were in custody and awaiting trial following the attempt to loot the designer eyewear store.

The Metropolitan Police’s Flying Squad, a specialised branch within the serious and organised crime command, was set up to surveil gangs that employ violent tactics to steal in London.

“We are euphoric that the police managed to make the arrests. I’ve been here 30 years and we have had problems before with kids stealing sunglasses and things like that,” the shop’s co-owner Andrew Harman was quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.

“The fact that the police were here so quickly was fantastic. We will have lost some money but no one was injured and we are pleased that people were not allowed to get away with this,” Harman further added.

“On Tuesday 30th April at 04:22 hours, police were called to Chiswick High Road, W4, to reports of people smashing up a shop at the location. On police arrival, it was believed that a burglary had occurred and two males were detained inside the location,” a Met police spokesperson told the newspaper.

“Two males were arrested at the location for the offence of burglary. Both males were charged and were remanded in custody awaiting trial,” the spokesperson further added.
