Dasari Chandu, 21, a medical student who hails from Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalle died after getting trapped under a frozen waterfall in Kyrgyzstan. Chandu was studying medicine in the central Asian nation and was a second year medicine student.
According to a report by NDTV, Chandu visited the waterfall on Sunday with four other students. His co-travellers were also from Andhra Pradesh.
A report by news outlet Siasat said that Anakapalle MP B. Venkata Satyavathi brought the issue to the notice of Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy.
Chandu’s body was later recovered from the site. His loved ones have reached out to relevant authorities seeking mortal remains for his last rites. Chandu was the second son of Bhima Raju, a halwa seller, according to the news outlet.
It further added that the minister spoke to officials in the Indian embassy in Kyrgyzstan and asked them to assist the deceased student’s family members.
