A blue meteor streaked across the skies over Spain and Portugal, leaving the onlookers on Saturday evening awestruck. Dozens of videos shared on social media platforms, including microblogging website X, depicted the celestial event as the meteor blazed through the atmosphere.

Reports indicated sightings of the meteor spanning hundreds of kilometers, igniting awe and speculation among observers. While initial reports suggested the meteor’s trajectory, its precise landing location remained unconfirmed.

Social media users expressed astonishment at the spectacle, with some marveling at its brilliance and composition, likening it to magnesium. Others pondered the frequency of such extraordinary occurrences, particularly in tandem with other celestial phenomena like the aurora borealis and solar eclipses.

“Same month as the Aurora borealis. Why are all these once in a lifetime events happening so close to each other. Makes you wonder if the solar eclipse was a warning,” said one of the users on X. “While this is a meteor, a more accurate description is the word Bolide. I don’t get to say bolide very often.

Bolide,” said another.
