IndiGo on Wednesday announced a special initiative for female passengers to make their travel experience more comfortable. IndiGo’s female passengers will now be able to see which seats are pre-booked by other female flyers at the time of web check-in. The feature will help female passengers to select their seats accordingly.
The airline said that the feature has been introduced after market research to make the “travel experience more comfortable for female passengers.”
“IndiGo is proud to announce the introduction of a new feature that aims to make the travel experience more comfortable for our female passengers. This has been introduced basis market research, and is currently in pilot mode aligning with our #GirlPower ethos,” the airline said in a statement.
“We are committed to providing an unparalleled travel experience for all our passengers, and this new feature is just one of the many steps we are taking towards achieving that goal,” IndiGo added.
Here’s What Official Statement Says
The feature is specifically tailored to Passenger Name Records (PNR) with women travellers – solo as well as part of family bookings.

Past Female Related Incidents
The decision comes after some of the female-related viral incidents hits the headlines in the past few months. Last year, a shocking incident was reported on an Air India flight, where a male passenger urinated on fellow female flyers. Later, legal action was taken against the offender.
In another shocking incident in IndiGo, a professor sexually harassed a doctor on board when traveling on a route from Delhi-Mumbai in July 2023, followed by a similar incident where a lady was groped during the Mumbai-Guwahati IndiGo flight in September 2023.
