Elon Musk and Narendra Modi
New Delhi: Tesla’s founder Elon Musk on Friday congratulated Narendra Modi for his election’s victory and he further hinted in his interest to work in India. “Congratulations @narendramodi on your victory in the world’s largest democratic elections! Looking forward to my companies doing exciting work in India,” Musk tweeted on X (formerly Twitter).

This congratulations comes as a hope for Tesla coming to the country as few months back Musk postponed his India’s visit. Musk’s visit was expected to be an opportunity for Tesla to enter India with its low-cost vehicle facility for domestic market and exports.

Tesla has been lobbying itself from entering India due to high import duties. However, when the Government of India declared a 15% cut on import duties if the manufacturer met certain conditions this became good news for Tesla.

Though he postponed his April visit citing some other ‘heavy Tesla obligations’ due to which he was not able to meet Narendra Modi.
