Indian e-2Ws positioned to lead global market, says Ather Energy Cofounder

Ather has seen significant growth, with a 30% increase in EV sales last year, reaching approximately 1,15,000 units.
Swapnil Jain, cofounder of Ather Energy, highlighted the advancements of Indian electric two-wheelers, claiming they are superior to global counterparts and underscoring India's potential in design and technology at the 'Meet Rizta' event in Nagpur, attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Ather showcased its latest family scooter, Rizta, and the innovative Halo helmet, emphasizing India's unique opportunity to excel in and export EV technology.

"Even with decreased subsidies, we are thriving thanks to the 'Made in India' initiative," Jain stated.

Jain emphasized that Indian electric two-wheelers outperform any in the world.

"Indian electric two-wheeler is better than any electric two-wheeler in the world," he said, emphasizing the country's unique opportunity to lead in design and technology.

He elaborated on India's potential to surpass other nations in EV technology and design.

"We have a unique opportunity to become exporters of technology, not just manufacturers. The growth of the electric two-wheeler industry will also boost other sectors such as the semiconductor, software, cell manufacturing, and energy industries," he explained.

Jain noted that the electric two-wheeler industry has the potential to drive advancements across various technology sectors in India.

"EV industry should not be seen just as an automobile industry but as the industry that can pull all the new technology in India, which will flourish various other industries," he added.

Ather has seen significant growth, with a 30% increase in EV sales last year, reaching approximately 1,15,000 units.

Jain expressed optimism for future sales, especially with the positive feedback received for the Ather Rizta, and highlighted the company's production capacity of 4,00,000 units.

On expansion plans, Jain shared the company's strategy to enter the South Asian market, with sales already starting in Nepal.

During the event, the advancements of the Indian EV sector were showcased to an audience of community members and electric vehicle enthusiasts, reinforcing the growing capabilities and reach of the industry.
