New Delhi: Eicher Trucks & Buses, a unit of VE Commercial Vehicles, has marked a significant milestone by rolling out its 50,000th bus from its Baggad Plant in Madhya Pradesh. The milestone vehicle is an Eicher Skyline Pro E electric bus, highlighting the company's commitment to modernizing Indian public transport. The Baggad plant, which began operations in 2013, is a state-of-the-art facility and covers 43 acres, producing various bus models for both domestic and international markets.

Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO, VECV, expressed the company’s pride in reaching this milestone. "We take immense pride in reaching this milestone. VECV has consistently remained ahead of the curve with significant advancements that offer best-in-class products across segments and compliant with all regulatory norms. The 50,000th bus, an Eicher Skyline Pro-E 9m model, is designed for urban environments and features high-energy storing batteries and a reliable all-electric driveline. This design ensures efficient, clean, and silent operation, with a focus on safety and comfort to enhance the passenger experience while meeting stringent regulatory standards.

The Baggad plant manufactures a diverse range of buses, including light, medium, and heavy-duty variants running on diesel, CNG, and electric drivelines. These buses cater to different segments such as school, staff, Route Permit, Intercity, and Tourist services. The plant is equipped with advanced robotic paint systems and is certified for Integrated Management Systems, reflecting Eicher's commitment to efficiency, quality, and environmental stewardship.

Eicher has implemented robust sustainability initiatives in its manufacturing operations, focusing on environmental, economic, and social sustainability. The company uses advanced energy monitoring and management systems like VFD-enabled panels and energy-efficient motors to optimize energy use and reduce wastage. Eicher also adopts strategies to achieve zero waste by minimizing packaging waste and safely disposing of hazardous materials.

The Baggad plant operates on 42% renewable energy sources, including solar and mini-hydel power. It earned the Platinum Green Factory building certification from IGBC in 2016 and was named Smart Factory of the Year in 2021. These efforts demonstrate a proactive approach to reducing the environmental footprint.

Looking forward, Eicher Trucks and Buses is committed to advancing alternative fuel technologies such as CNG, LNG, and HCNG alongside its electric vehicle initiatives. This continued innovation reflects the company's dedication to the future of sustainable public transportation in India.
