BMW to launch an e-scooter at INR 10 Lakh

BMW Motorrad is set to launch its CE 04 electric scooter in India on July 24. The luxury automaker has commenced pre-launch bookings for its the scooter as well. The CE 04, marking BMW Motorrad's foray into the Indian electric scooter market, is expected to be priced at INR 10 lakh, potentially making it the most expensive scooter in India.

At INR 10 lakh, it will cost much more than some electric cars like the MG Comet EV (INR 6.99 lakh onwards) and the Tata Tiago EV (INR 7.99 lakh onwards). In fact, the popular Tata Punch EV also starts from INR 10.99 lakh.

The BMW CE 04, which debuted in December in India, features an elongated, low design with a diagonally rising front end. It includes a flat bench-type seat, sharp bodywork, and twin pod headlights at the front. The scooter is built on a steel double-loop frame, with a single-bridge telescopic fork at the front and a single-sided swingarm with directly hinged suspension support at the rear.

It has 15-inch wheels on both ends and employs 265 mm discs for the braking system. The scooter's dimensions are 2285 mm in length, 855 mm in width, and 1150 mm in height, and it boasts a seat height of 780 mm, which can be increased by 20 mm with the optional comfort seat provided by BMW.

The CE 04 is equipped with numerous features, including all LED lighting for the headlight, indicators, and taillights. It also comes with a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument display that shows built-in navigation and connectivity, performance data, EV-specific details, dual-channel ABS, and more. Customers have the option to choose dynamic traction control and ABS pro for additional safety.

The CE 04 is equipped with a 9 kWh battery pack paired with a liquid-cooled electric motor, delivering 41 bhp of power and 62 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-50 kph in 2.6 seconds and claims a top speed of 120 kph. The scooter has a claimed range of 130 km and can be charged in 1 hour and 40 minutes using a fast charger.
