Ola Electric at its annual Sankalp 2024 event on August 15, 2024, held at the Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, launched new products and shared its future roadmap. New entries into the electric motorcycle market were introduced, including the Roadster, Roadster X, and Roadster Pro, alongside plans to integrate its Bharat 4680 cells into its vehicles from Q1 FY26. Prices range from INR 74,999 for the Roadster X (2.5 kWh) to INR 2,49,999 for the Roadster Pro (16 kWh). Ola Electric also showcased its homegrown Bharat 4680 cell and battery pack, a new Gen-3 platform, and the MoveOS 5.

Reservations for all Roadster variants began on August 15, 2024, with delivery timelines starting in Q4 FY25 for the Roadster X and Roadster and Q4 FY26 for the Roadster Pro. Ola Electric will offer an 8-year battery warranty across all its motorcycle models and access to its charging network.

Ola Electric introduced the Roadster series with three models: Roadster, Roadster X, and Roadster Pro. These are built on the scalable, modular, integrated Ola Motorcycles platform and feature a minimalist and futuristic design. Additionally, the company teased two upcoming models, Sportster and Arrowhead.

The Roadster X aims to redefine the entry-level motorcycle segment. With a peak motor output of 11 kW, it claims to be the fastest electric motorcycle in this category. Available with battery variants of 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh, the Roadster X accelerates from 0-40 kmph in 2.8 seconds (4.5 kWh variant). It offers a top speed of 124 kmph and a range of up to 200 km. It is equipped with a Combi Braking System (CBS), disc brakes, and advanced brake-by-wire technology. The motorcycle features Sports, Normal, and Eco riding modes, a 4.3-inch LCD display powered by MoveOS 5, and an array of digital tech features such as Ola Maps Navigation, TPSM alerts, and OTA updates. It also supports Digital Key Unlock and Ola Electric App connectivity.

"Today, 2/3rd of India’s 2W market consists of motorcycles, and with Ola’s entry into this segment, EV penetration is poised to further accelerate in the Indian 2W segment. We have already been successful in accelerating the EV adoption in the scooter segment, and with our futuristic portfolio of products, we are now focused on supercharging the EV penetration through our motorcycles. Coupled with the integration of our cells in our vehicles starting early next year, we are determined to chart a new course for mass EV adoption across India," said Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and CMD, Ola Electric.

Features: The Roadster, positioned in the commuter segment, is marketed as the fastest motorcycle in this category. Powered by a 13 KW motor, it is available in 3.5 kWh, 4.5 kWh, and 6 kWh battery variants and accelerates from 0-40 kmph in just 2 seconds (6 kWh). With a top speed of 126 kmph, it offers a range of up to 248 kms. Riders can switch between Hyper, Sports, Normal, and Eco modes. The Roadster is fitted with an industry-first 6.8-inch TFT touchscreen and features like proximity unlock, cruise control, and AI-powered functionalities such as Krutrim Assistant and a road trip planner. It has disc brakes at both the front and rear, supported by single-channel ABS with cornering ABS and brake-by-wire technology.

The Roadster Pro elevates performance and technology further. With a motor delivering a peak power output of 52 kW and 105 Nm torque, its 16 kWh variant accelerates from 0-40 kmph in 1.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 194 kmph. It boasts a 579 km IDC-certified range. The Roadster Pro features a 10-inch TFT touchscreen, USD forks, two-channel switchable ABS, and four riding modes. The MoveOS 5 update equips it with ADAS, three-level traction control, integrated ride modes, and other advanced digital features. With MoveOS 6, the motorcycle will get additional race-track functionalities, including Race Mode and Anti-Wheely.

Ola Electric plans to integrate its Bharat 4680 cells into its EVs starting Q1 FY26, currently under trial production at its Gigafactory. These cells are reported to possess five times more energy (275 Wh/kg) than the 2170 form-factor cells commonly used in automotive applications. They have a wider operating temperature range, longer life with more than 1,000 charge cycles, and fast-charging capabilities that allow a 50% charge in 13 minutes.
