Delta Electronics will provide the essential hardware for the charging infrastructure, while Thunderplus Solutions will handle the installation and operation of the stations.
Tata Motors announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with Delta Electronics India and Thunderplus Solutions to establish a charging infrastructure for its electric commercial vehicles (CVs). As per the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed, the collaboration will result in the installation of 250 new fast-charging stations across India, covering over 50 cities.

These new charging stations will be strategically placed in and around major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Kochi. This initiative will enhance the current network of 540 commercial vehicle charging points, Tata Motors stated in a press release.

Based on its knowledge of commercial EV movement, Tata Motors will recommend the best locations and nearby dealerships for setting up the fast-charging stations.

Delta Electronics will provide the essential hardware for the charging infrastructure, while Thunderplus Solutions will handle the installation and operation of the stations.

E-commerce companies, as well as parcel and courier service providers, are increasingly adopting commercial EVs for last-mile deliveries, driven by the need for sustainable solutions.

"Expanding the available charging infrastructure on high-use routes will encourage more customers to opt for electric commercial vehicles and improve vehicle uptime, resulting in higher revenues and better profitability, while contributing towards a cleaner, greener environment," said Vinay Pathak, Vice President and Business Head -- SCV & PU at Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles.

At present, Tata Motors offers Ace EVs designed to meet various last-mile delivery needs.

These models are supported by over 150 electric vehicle service centers across the country.
