The new update will make locating Ather fast-charging stations more straightforward. Ather Grid fast-charging stations can now be found on Google Maps with live status updates. Additionally, any newly installed chargers will be promptly listed on Google Maps.
LECCS
LECCS is now recognized as a plug type on Google Maps, enabling users to set LECCS as their default connector. As a result, searches for terms like "EV charger near me" or "charging stations" will include chargers with the LECCS connector.
"This collaboration will allow any vehicle with LECCS to easily find and charge at Ather fast-charging stations, Ather Grid," the company said.
Ather Grid's network of fast chargers for electric two-wheelers is built on the Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS). The Bureau of Indian Standards has approved this system for nationwide adoption. Launched last year, the LECCS is viewed as a significant milestone toward creating a universal standard through interoperability, promoting the broader use of electric vehicles in India.
As of March 30, 2024, Ather Energy has made 1,973 fast chargers available to the public. This reflects Ather Energy's commitment to providing a seamless charging experience for its customers.
Ather usage of technology
These include a touch-screen dashboard, on-board navigation, fast charging for electric two-wheelers, a reverse mode, and a mobile app. Recently, Ather has integrated popular consumer technologies like Google Maps navigation, Alexa skills, and WhatsApp notifications into its two-wheelers.
"Ather’s update with Google Maps is a testament to its efforts towards driving innovation in the EV industry, thanks to its unique and significant focus and investment in R&D since the company’s inception in 2013."
By enhancing the EV charging infrastructure with real-time updates through Google Maps, Ather Energy aims to make the EV charging process more efficient and user-friendly for its customers. This collaboration marks a step forward in the adoption and convenience of electric vehicles across India.
