ARSA in collaboration with WHO and Nirwan University to host workshop on enhancing road safety through media

The session will also feature interactive discussions on the power of storytelling, the influence of social media, and the creation of impactful road safety communication tools.
The Asian Road Safety Academy (ARSA), in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Nirwan University Jaipur's Centre for Road Safety Management, is hosting a one-day pre-conference workshop titled “Strengthening Capacity for Research and Practice in Road Safety through Media” on the 2024 World Safety conference. The workshop will take place at the Tamarind Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Distinguished speakers include Lotte Brondum, the Guest of Honour, and Nidhi Singh, the Special Guest.

Objective

The workshop aims to empower media professionals to report more effectively on road safety issues, thereby enhancing public awareness and promoting safer behaviors on the road. Lotte Brondum, Advisor (Infrastructure Connectivity & Electric Mobility) at NITI Aayog, Government of India, and Executive Director of the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety, Switzerland, and Nidhi Singh, Additional Transport Commissioner, Department of Transport and Road Safety, Government of Rajasthan, will lead the discussions.

Shri Sinha will offer insights into the challenges and opportunities in improving road safety infrastructure in India. Brondum will discuss global best practices and the crucial role NGOs play in advocating for road safety, Nidhi Singh will highlight the strategic partnership between media and government agencies in enhancing road safety measures at the state level.

In addition, a keynote address by Dipak Dash, Senior Journalist from the Times of India, will explore the current state of road safety and the critical need for improved road design and infrastructure.

The session will also feature interactive discussions on the power of storytelling, the influence of social media, and the creation of impactful road safety communication tools.
