Mercedes-Benz India appoints Dr Shyam Sunder as Head of External Affairs and Corporate Citizenship

Dr. Shyam Sunder
India’s luxury car manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz, has announced a significant change in its External Affairs and Corporate Citizenship function. Effective from August 26, 2024, Dr Shyam Sunder will take on the role of Head of External Affairs and Corporate Citizenship.
Dr Sunder will be reporting to Santosh Iyer, the Managing Director and CEO. He will oversee government relations, public policy advocacy and corporate citizenship initiatives.
Education

Dr Shyam Sunder brings a vast array of experience to his new position. He holds a master’s degree in Econometrics and a Ph.D. in Economics. Over the course of his 24-year career, he has played pivotal roles in public policy and advocacy and has managed government engagements for various prominent automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

Experience

In the past, Dr Sunder has worked with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). There, he significantly contributed to shaping public policy and fostering industry collaborations.

His background in public affairs, coupled with his expertise in strategic stakeholder engagements, positions him well to navigate the complex regulatory landscapes for Mercedes-Benz India. Dr Sunder’s leadership is expected to foster closer collaboration with policymakers and industry leaders, while also building stronger communities through Mercedes-Benz’s diverse corporate citizenship programs.
