Maruti Suzuki aims to 3 times its current exports in the coming 6 years, along with which the company also targets to increase Indian customers' confidence for EVs.

“Our exports from India today are 3 times of what we had 4 years ago. Not only that, our exports will be 3 times that of today in about 6 years from today,” said Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki during SIAM’s annual convention.

Along with this the CEO and MD revealed the company’s plan to increase customer confidence in EVs by exporting EVs manufactured in India to its foreign market. “To increase customer confidence, we will export these same EVs to markets like Europe and Japan," CEO and MD said on Tuesday.

“All our products, services, solutions, and communication will be directed towards one theme – Increase customer confidence,” added the CEO.

The company will also roll out different solutions for their EV customers to answer their EV-related concerns. For which they will use their network to give confidence to the customers for after-sale support.

The company is also working on a high-specification EV with a high range of order of 500 km and powered by a 60 Kilowatt-hour battery. Though he further clarified the company plans to work on other technologies or powertrain options like hydrogen, strong hybrids, and biofuels, to minimise oil consumption and CO2 emission as in pure petrol vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki's strategy to drive its future vehicles

Hisashi Takeuchi further talked about Suzuki's unique philosophy that will drive the future vehicles of the company. Sho-Sho-Kei-Tan-Bi that decodes to be, ‘smaller, fewer, lighter, shorter, and more beautiful’.

“Our future vehicles will continue to be driven by the Sho-Sho-Kei-Tan-Bi philosophy, ensuring minimum energy consumption on a life-cycle basis and circular economy,” he stated.

This philosophy covers different levels of business operations to target minimum consumption of resources with the highest efficiency and maximum output in return.

“From manufacturing to recycling, we aim for technology that minimises resource and environmental risks, providing the joy of mobility to people around the world while striving to achieve a carbon-neutral world,” the MD and CEO added.

This will provide compact and efficient batteries with maximum motor output for EVs and Hybrids, and higher thermal efficiency for ICE and ICE blended technologies, to boost customer safety and driving performance. These batteries/motors can also be easily disassembled for collection purposes and to reuse vehicle batteries for other purposes such as streetlights and cooking, Takeuchi added.
