Panel to investigate fires in public buses

Gahlot had recently directed the transport department to constitute a committee to look into the incidents of fire in buses,
IIT-Delhi experts will be part of a committee that will look into the recent incidents of bus fires in the city. The committee will be chaired by professor Anjan Ray and comprise members from different departments as well as Centre for Automotive Research. It is expected to submit its interim report within three weeks and the final report within eight weeks from the date of its formation.

Delhi minister Kailash Gahlot had recently directed the transport department to constitute a committee to look into the incidents of fire in buses, govt said in a statement. Names of six expert members have been received.

“The safety of passengers is our top priority. These unfortunate incidents underline the need for thorough investigation and immediate preventive steps.
The committee formed in collaboration with IIT-Delhi will bring in the necessary expertise to help us identify the root causes and ensure the safe operation of public transport buses,” Gahlot stated. tnn
