India has the potential to become an export hub for electric two-wheelers, Minister for Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari said Tuesday.

“Today Bajaj, TVS are exporting nearly 50% of their production from India. In the electric vehicle segment too, the potential for exports is huge”, Gadkari said at the launch of Revolt Motors’ first electric commuter motorcycle RV1 priced upwards of INR 84,990 (ex-showroom).

Gadkari said with battery prices coming down cost of electric vehicles will be at par with internal combustion engine (petrol and diesel) ones within the next two years. In addition to this, savings in fuel costs will drive up demand for EVs, Gadkari informed.
