The ceremony included a symbolic display of ‘100 million and 1’ to represent the company’s determination to continue advancing beyond past accomplishments.
Hyundai Motor Company marked a major milestone today by celebrating the production of 100 million vehicles globally, achieved in 57 years since its foundation. The event took place at the Ulsan Plant in Korea, where the 100 millionth and first vehicle, an IONIQ 5, was delivered to a customer during a special ceremony. This celebration underscored Hyundai Motor's commitment to progress and innovation in the automotive industry.

Hyundai Motor held a significant ceremony at its Ulsan Plant to commemorate this historical achievement. During the event, an IONIQ 5 was handed over to a customer as a gesture of thanks for the support and trust from customers worldwide. The ceremony included a symbolic display of ‘100 million and 1’ to represent the company’s determination to continue advancing beyond past accomplishments.

"Reaching global cumulative production of 100 million vehicles is a meaningful milestone that was possible thanks to our customers around the world who have chosen and supported Hyundai Motor since the very beginning," said Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company. "Taking on bold challenges and being in constant pursuit of innovation has enabled us to achieve rapid growth and will empower us to take ‘one step further’ toward another 100 million units as a mobility game changer."

Hyundai Ulsan plant

The Ulsan Plant, operational since 1968, is a cornerstone of Korea's automobile industry, having produced the country’s first mass-produced independent model, the Pony, in 1975. Currently, the site is a hub for electrification, and Hyundai is establishing an exclusive electric vehicle (EV) facility there.

"Each and every employee at Hyundai Motor has contributed to the accumulation of 100 million units through their hard work and dedication,” said Dong Seock Lee, President and Head of Domestic Productions and Chief Safety Officer at Hyundai Motor Company. “This auspicious occasion is just the first step toward the future era of electrification that Hyundai Motor will lead."

Hyundai's growth

Hyundai Motor’s continuous growth has been driven by the launch of its premium Genesis brand, the high-performance N brand, and EVs like the IONIQ 5 based on the electric global modular platform (E-GMP). The global footprint of the company has expanded with production facilities in various countries including Turkey, India, the U.S., and the Czech Republic. These expansions led to surpassing 50 million vehicles manufactured in 2013.

Last year, Hyundai furthered its momentum by establishing the Hyundai Motor Group Global Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS), a smart urban mobility hub. This center focuses on innovative manufacturing platforms and advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robots, and smart factories. These technologies are set to be integrated into future production facilities, including Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), to maximise production efficiency.

Hyundai Motor Company continues to innovate and expand, building on its legacy of success and commitment to excellence in the automotive industry.
