By integrating Shadowfax's fleet, Uber can tap into a diverse third-party logistics provider with over 2 lakh active two-wheelers. This partnership is designed to benefit both platforms—Uber Moto riders get more reliable service. At the same time, Shadowfax drivers gain access to new income streams by switching between deliveries and bike rides using the Shadowfax app.
Arnab Kumar, Director of Business Development at Uber India and South Asia, said, “The integration with Shadowfax is yet another example of business model innovation that will push the boundaries further and faster to lead bike taxi growth in India. Creating a win-win strategy for all - this partnership with a third-party logistics provider will materially unlock the supply of two-wheelers on Uber while creating additional earning opportunities for drivers on the Shadowfax platform. This integration is in line with our ambition to truly become the operating system for multiple form factors and we are incredibly excited about the potential of this partnership for Uber Moto’s growth.”
Empowering drivers with new income streams
Praharsh Chandra, Chief Business Officer and Co-founder at Shadowfax shared, "At Shadowfax, we are committed to driving innovation and adding value for our drivers and delivery partners. Through this unique integration, we are set to become the most diversified 3PL player in India, offering the first app where all forms of earning opportunities are available. Our 'One app, all opportunities' platform will empower our partners to tap into new streams of income, whether through last-mile deliveries or mobility solutions like UberMoto. This collaboration represents a pivotal step in transforming both the urban logistics and mobility ecosystems, further cementing our leadership in last-mile services across the country."
This tech collaboration is designed to streamline operations for both companies. When riders request an Uber Moto through the Uber app, they may be matched with Shadowfax drivers. These trips will be managed within the Shadowfax driver app, while the rider's experience remains unchanged from their usual Uber trip experience. This integration allows Shadowfax drivers to toggle between different types of deliveries and rides, optimising their earning potential.
Tech integration to streamline mobility and logistics
By leveraging Shadowfax's extensive network, Uber plans to expand its Uber Moto operations into new towns where it previously had no presence. Shadowfax already operates in over 2500 cities and covers 18,000 pincodes across India, providing a vast supply pool for Uber to tap into.
The use of third-party tech integration is a first for Uber in India, although this technology has seen past success with New York's iconic yellow cabs. Shadowfax has integrated with Uber’s third-party application programming interfaces (APIs), which routes Uber trips to the Shadowfax driver app on the backend. Despite this backend integration, the booking interface for riders will remain the Uber app they are familiar with.
Shadowfax’s diverse fleet and extensive operational footprint make it an ideal partner to drive Uber’s ambitions forward, providing a significant boost to Uber Moto's growth. The collaboration aims to transform urban logistics and mobility, establishing new earning opportunities through a unified platform.
Uber aims to become the "operating system for multiple form factors," offering a versatile and extensive range of services to its users while providing new earning streams for its driver partners.
