IIT Bhubaneswar will soon offer an advanced certificate programme on EV technology.
IIT Bhubaneswar will soon offer an advanced certificate programme on electric vehicle (EV) technology. This nine-month course targets professionals and graduates seeking advanced expertise in electric vehicle design, focusing on motors, controllers, and battery engineering.

The curriculum covers EV design, energy storage, charging networks, supply chains, and sustainability. Delivered through a blend of live sessions, self-paced modules, hands-on labs, and industrial visits, it prepares learners for careers in e-mobility and energy storage, said IIT Bhubaneswar official sources on Friday.

Soobhankar Pati, CEO of IIT Bhubaneswar Research and Entrepreneurship Park (IITBBS-REP), said they will deliver the course digitally. “An interaction session will be organized for the students. During the course period, they will have to physically attend practical/laboratory classes on two occasions (16-day session and 21-day session),” he added.

Pati said the students can come to the national institution for an internship. “As we have several startup companies, they can get hands-on training from them. This course is for technical people having a BTech degree, who want to learn electric vehicle technology,” he added.

To provide this course, IITBBS-REP has signed an MoU with Nagpur-based pManifold EV Academy. The academy will also conduct theory and laboratory classes. Besides this, these two institutions will collaborate in research, consulting, and training in the new energy areas of electric vehicles and broader Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) and other related green technologies.

IIT Bhubaneswar Director Shreepad Karmalkar said this programme will provide students with vital exposure to startups and industry, fostering industry-ready talent for real-world innovation in a sustainable future. He said students, who will come to the IIT Bhubaneswar campus during this course, can get practical learning, industry exposure, and networking.

This course has an optional end-of-course immersion for hands-on experience with startups like Archon Motors and Cellark Powertech, incubated at IIT Bhubaneswar REP. “Besides the duo, other IIT Bhubaneswar startups specializing in EV infrastructure and development will provide opportunities for live projects, ensuring students gain comprehensive, industry-ready experience,” he added.
