Passengers have also expressed their dissatisfaction with the lack of AC buses on high-demand routes like Mehdipatnam-Koti and Secunderabad-LB Nagar.
At a time when Metro trains, ordinary and Metro Express buses in the city are running to capacity with passengers amid scorching temperatures, TSRTC is struggling to attract commuters for its AC bus services.

Pushpak bus services from JBS and Miyapur to Shamshabad airport and Metro AC super luxury services along Secunderabad-Patancheru and Bachupally to WaveRock routes were running only to 50% occupancy. Despite the daily revenue of 14 lakh generated by the more than 5,000 passengers using Pushpak buses, the occupancy rates remain low. Similarly, the 15 mini AC ‘cyberliner’ buses operating from Raidurgam Metro station to WaveRock and GAR, catering to the needs of IT employees, were not seeing the expected footfall.

While buses from the airport were running at full capacity, those heading to RGIA were logging less than 50% occupancy due to punctuality issues and fares being in the range of 250-300. Nithish Agarwal, a passenger from Begumpet, sharing his experience, said: “Recently, I went to RGIA to see off my friend. We had initially planned to travel by Pushpak services and waited for over 30 minutes for the bus. Subsequently, we booked a cab, fearing that my friend my miss the flight.”

Passengers have also expressed their dissatisfaction with the lack of AC buses on high-demand routes like Mehdipatnam-Koti and Secunderabad-LB Nagar. They stated that majority of AC buses were plying in the IT corridor, while heavily congested areas like Uppal, Kukatpally, and Koti were being ignored.

TSRTC officials said that they were taking measures to improve the occupancy of AC buses by optimizing routes and introducing more AC buses on high-demand routes to alleviate congestion. “We expect the occupancy levels to reach 70% once the routes and services are reorganized and anticipate more passengers to opt for AC buses during the summer,” a senior TSRTC officer said.

On the other hand, 223 Rajadhani and 49 Garuda bus services being operated in different parts of the city were registering around 60 % occupancy levels. Even in Lahari AC sleeper buses, occupancy was not up to the mark.
