Bajaj Auto has been witnessing decent sales figures over the past few months, all thanks to the current product line. Now, the company is gearing up to expand the electric scooter range, and is likely to introduce an entry-level e-scooter in India.

The company has not shared any launch-related details as yet. However, some reports suggested that it will be released by next month. According to AutoX, the company’s executive director, Rakesh Sharma has already given a green signal to the news. He said that the new offering will appeal masses.

Expected Price Range

If rumors are to be believed the upcoming battery-powered scooter is expected to fall under Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be positioned below the tech-loaded Urbane version.

Under the price range of Rs 1 lakh, customers are likely to receive limited color options. No premium shade will be there. In fact, some features are likely to be removed to make it more affordable.

The brand might not offer the alloys in the upcoming treat as it will be treated with steel wheels instead. It has been reported that the vehicle will not be equipped with disc brakes. It will be equipped with drum brakes at both ends.

No Premium Features

When it comes to the features, a basic LCD unit is likely to be offered, the same one that was seen in the older versions. Amid this, to make it at least a value-for-money product, the vehicle is expected to get two cubby pockets, which will allow the riders to store phones, gadgets, or knickknacks.

The company has not revealed the powertrain options as of now. However, we believe it will use the same battery setup as the Urbane variant in a cost-cutting manner.

Current Lineup

Meanwhile, Bajaj has two electric scooters in the Indian market – Urbane and Premium. The former comes at the starting price of Rs 1.23 lakh, while the latter costs Rs 1.47 lakh (all ex-showroom).
