'Write an essay, work with traffic police': Pune teen who killed 2 bikers with Porsche gets bail in a day

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar Magar of Pune City Police confirmed the arrest of the juvenile, along with the booking of his father and the proprietor of a bar that served him alcohol.
In a recent development related to the car accident in Pune that resulted in the loss of two lives, the accused, a juvenile, has been granted bail under specific conditions. The bail terms mandate the accused to fulfill several obligations, including collaborating with the Yerawada traffic police, composing an essay on the accident, undergoing treatment to address alcohol dependency, and participating in psychiatric counseling, with a requirement to submit a report thereafter.

According to Prashant Patil, the advocate representing the juvenile accused, the conditions set forth by the Juvenile Justice Board encompass a range of rehabilitative measures aimed at addressing the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

"The juvenile accused who was arrested by Pune Police has been granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board on certain conditions including that the accused should work with the traffic police of Yerawada for 15 days, accused should write an essay on accident, should get treatment from the concerned doctor to help him quit drinking and should take psychiatric counselling and submit the report," stated Patil.

The fatal collision occurred in the early hours of Sunday, claiming the lives of two young women as a luxury car collided with their motorcycle near Kalyani Nagar in Pune, according to police officials. The victims have been identified as Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa, and the incident transpired around 3:15 am. The driver of the car, reported to be a minor, has since been apprehended.

"A bike rider and pillion rider were killed when a speeding car hit them from behind in the Kalyani Nagar area last night. The accused has been arrested, and an FIR has been registered. We are also verifying the certificates to ascertain the accused's age, as he claims to be a minor," stated DCP Magar.

The police have levied charges against the minor for rash and negligent driving, as well as causing harm by endangering life or personal safety under IPC sections 304A, 279, 337, 338, and 427, in addition to relevant sections of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Act, as per DCP Magar.
