TTAG and other industry bodies have petitioned govt to introduce more app-based taxi services so that customers have a choice.
Goa needs an efficient, reliable, and comfortable public transport system that functions 24x7, said the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) president Jack Sukhija. Stating that last mile connectivity can make or mar a tourist destination, Sukhija said Goa also needs bring in transparency and technology in taxi operations so that tourists as well as locals can use the service.

While reiterating that local stakeholders should be engaged as Goa’s tourism industry grows, TTAG also said that app-based taxi services should be allowed to thrive.

“An affordable and efficient public transport system will reduce the number of internal combustion engine cars on the road,” said Sukhija. “We also need to ensure that bus routes to the airport are well publicised. Most importantly, we need transparency in pricing and technology in the taxi sector.”

TTAG and other industry bodies have petitioned govt to introduce more app-based taxi services so that customers have a choice.

“All over India and in the rest of the world, people have moved on to technology. The customer at a hotel cannot be left at the mercy of the taxi counter there and have no other choice due to monopoly,” said Sukhija. TTAG vice-president for North Goa, Akash Madgaonkar, said TTAG has been keeping govt abreast of the harassment that guests and tour operators face at the hands of a few taxi and bus operators.
