The sudden spike in the EVs sales in India raised a lot of questions about the ICE models. It has been speculated that fuel-powered vehicles might lose the charm in the future or their sales might go down, all thanks to a big push for EV culture by the government. Amid this, the leading car maker Mercedes-Benz has revealed that they have witnessed impressive sales of ICE models. In fact, it has retailed more than half of its cars in diesel.

The above details somehow hint that the diesel models still hold their dominance in the market. It is likely to continue the same in the long run as well, and the reasons are quite obvious.

Here’s What Top Official Says

As per the details shared by the Teambhp, Mercedes-Benz India’s Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Lance Bennett said “It (diesel) represents roundabout 54 percent of our sales, 6 percent is EVs and the balance is petrol. So it’s still skewed towards diesel but we’re happy to offer each of those powertrains to our customers. We’re seeing that some markets are a bit more receptive towards petrol models due to emission norms.”

Sales Figures

Talking about the sales figures, the brand has been witnessing an overwhelming response in India in the fuel-powered segment. The company has sold more than 5,410 units in the first quarter of 2024. Despite giving major focus to battery-powered cars, the maker chose to deliver Petrol and diesel-powered Cars even beyond 2030 due to their high demand.

Hot-selling Product Range

Currently, Mercedes-Benz is enjoying impressive sales figures on some of its models in the Indian market. The list includes E-Class, C-Class, S-Class, A-Class, GLE range, and AMG lines among others. The diesel portfolio continues to remain at a time high in demand.
