The holy festival of Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated annually in the month of Vaishakh. Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh month is known as Akshaya Tritiya or Akha Teej. It is believed that good deeds on this day are always rewarded. Similarly, the sins committed on this day harbour consequences throughout life, as believed by the Hindu devotees. On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, people buy houses, shops, vehicles, gold, jewellery etc. Hindu devotees celebrate this festival by offering prayers to deities and performing rituals and charitable activities. The Tirupati’s astrologer, Dr Krishna Kumar Bhargava tells the date and time of Akshaya Tithi this year.
As per Dr Krishan Kumar Bhargava, this year, Vaishakh Shukla Tritiya Tithi will start on Friday, May 10 at 04:17 AM. It will remain till 02:50 AM on Saturday, May 11. Akshaya Tritiya will be observed on Friday, May 10. This year will mark a beautiful coincidence on this day. Akshaya Tritiya falls on Friday and goddess Lakshmi is too worshipped on this day by the Hindu devotees. In such a situation, people can now do Lakshmi Puja on Akshaya Tritiya. There is Abujh Muhurta throughout the day on Akshaya Tritiya. On the day of Akshaya Tritiya, you can shop anytime from sunrise to night. On the day of Akshaya Tritiya, marriage, engagement, tonsure, Upanayana ceremony, inauguration of shop etc. can be performed. In Sanskrit, Akshaya means never diminishing. It is believed that any new project and or venture started on this day will bring prosperity and good fortune.
