Family is a special thing for every human being. But while some family members share a good bond with us some members often exhibit toxic behaviours. It is very important to stay out of toxicity and stay emotionally fit. We often share good bonding with our siblings but some of our siblings are toxic. Let us today look at some traits that show you have a toxic sibling and let’s know the ways to manage toxicity:

Continuous Criticism:

Relationships with moderate criticism are healthy as they involve constructive feedback. If you face continuous and excessive criticism from your siblings, then you have to understand that you have a toxic sibling. They may constantly try to underestimate your accomplishments, belittle your aspirations and undermine your confidence. Under such a situation, the relationship with your sibling gets hampered and you may face mental health issues. It is very important to avoid such situations for your good.

Toxic Behaviour:

Siblings with toxic traits will always try to control and manipulate your thought process to establish dominance over you for their advantage. They may also try to demean your values and disregard your opinion. It is very important to identify these traits early and stay away from their manipulative habit.

Lack of Emotions:

If your sibling refuses to acknowledge your feelings and emotions then you have to understand that your sibling is toxic. They may make you feel unwanted and try to control your feelings by demeaning your emotions.

Competition and Jealousy:

Competition between siblings is very common. But when the competition level turns relentless then the relationship becomes toxic. A toxic sibling will always try to surpass you in every field of life. They may even get jealous of your success and may try to guide you on the wrong path. Continuous jealousy and competition can affect the relationship which often ends in fights and quarrels.

Crossing limits:

It is very important to respect individual limits in any relationship. If your sibling tries to violate the limits and impose their opinion on you then understand that he/she is toxic in life. Violating the limits can often make you feel disrespected and powerless which can lead to mental issues.
