Kalki Koechlin has always loved unconventional scripts and unique characters that make her stand out in the film industry. Just like her dedication towards work, she also believes in prioritising a balanced lifestyle. The actress who currently resides in Goa with her partner Guy Hershberg and daughter Sappho, enjoys a calm coastal life while frequently visiting Mumbai for her professional commitments. In a recent interview with Brut India, the actress offered a glimpse of her picturesque Goan home, featuring the spacious outdoor area filled with a variety of trees, traditional Indian decor and things made out of recycled materials. The actress claims her living room makes her feel like she’s living in a church-like ambience.

As guests step into Kalki Koechlin’s home, they’re surprised by an expansive outdoor area adorned with vibrant greenery and a porch set up for table tennis. Inside, the warm living space is adorned with board games, a chess table and ample seating for social gatherings. Explaining her decision to relocate to Goa, Kalki shared, “Lifestyle especially with a young kid, when you have a young kid I feel like you need a little garden, you need space, you need outdoor activities, otherwise they get stuck to the screen. She was already getting stuck to the screen and I felt like I was at a ready point it makes sense."

Kalki Koechlin resides in a unique home that is a blend of European and Indian aesthetics. The exterior has glass doors, yellow walls and exposed brick. Talking about the house, she adds that the house belongs to a retired surgeon. According to her, the dining table “always makes me think of a surgery table you know with the lights like I imagine like one big body and we’re just the cannibals."

Adjacent to the dining area, Kalki Koechlin’s home boasts a delightful pop-up window that offers a peek into the kitchen. Intriguingly, her household is entirely plastic-free, with the family opting for recycled or natural, chemical-free products.

She explained, “I think I’ve it’s just a reminder of what I was anyway doing growing up with like. I grew up in Auroville where everybody take care of their own waste. The products were within the community so you you’d exchange your jams with next door, for their pickles, you don’t end up having packaging, you don’t end up having that much waste."

In addition to the main house, Kalki Koechlin’s home is surrounded by a variety of trees, from jackfruit to chikoo and lemon trees, while the garden area adds natural beauty. Meanwhile, the outer seating area features a classic bed and a jute swing, offering a perfect spot to relax from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
