Brazilian superstar Neymar has sparked speculations about reuniting with his former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) teammate Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.

Neymar’s former Barcelona teammates Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba are currently part of the Inter Miami squad. Neymar and Messi’s combination at Barcelona and PSG has already proved to be quite deadly with the South American duo having claimed the La Liga, Ligue 1 and Champions League crowns together.

At this point in time, Neymar and Messi are now featuring in different parts of the world at the club level. While Neymar is currently plying his trade for the Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal, Messi is representing Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami. Their on-field association came to an end in the summer of 2023 after Messi left PSG.

During their stint at Barcelona, Neymar and Lionel Messi managed to win the coveted Champions League title in 2015. Neymar got a chance to win the Champions League once again In August 2020 but PSG lost to Bayern Munich by a margin of one goal to nil in the final that season.

In recent times, there have been talks of Neymar reuniting with Messi and arriving in the United States. In an interaction with Band Sports, Neymar said, as per Goal, “We are far away but we talk, we talk a lot. Even yesterday, he sent me a message but we are happy, we are happy for each other. For the title, he sent me a message when we won here too. I spoke to him, he’s a great guy, he’s a great mirror for me, he’s a great idol. Besides being an idol, he’s a friend I have and we talk a lot.”

Having joined Al-Hilal last year, Neymar has not been able to produce an impressive show in the Saudi Pro League so far. In five matches, he has registered one goal and two assists. Neymar’s stint in the Saudi has been marred by injuries and fitness trouble.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi is enjoying a fruitful outing at Inter Miami. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner left PSG to complete his move to the United States in 2023. Having represented Inter Miami in 29 matches, the FIFA World Cup winner has managed to find the back of the net 25 times.
