Weeks before returning to the squared circle, boxing legend Mike Tyson needed medical attention while travelling from Miami to Los Angeles. After the issue came to light, questions are being asked about whether Tyson would be able to make himself available for the big-ticket match against Yutuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

Paul himself has addressed the concerns while criticising users on social media for spreading rumours.

Paul, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), wrote, “You love to make s*** up before knowing the facts for clicks/likes. Nothing changed.”

After the post surfaced on the microblogging site, many fans expressed concerns about Tyson’s health condition.

Some of them also criticised Paul for booking a match against “a 60-year-old man”.

Tyson will turn 58 by the time he squares off against the influencer-turned-boxer on July 20. Highlighting the age gap between Paul and Tyson, a user wrote, “Be ashamed of yourself. You’re fighting a 60-year-old man and claiming it’s the hardest ever.”

Another fan reminisced about the prime of Tyson and commented “I wish we could get 18-year-old Tyson for just 5 minutes.”

A user shared a photograph of Mike Tyson in the comments box where the former heavyweight champion could be seen in a wheelchair. “Mike is still a senior citizen with a lot of health issues,” wrote the person.

According to a report by In Touch Weekly, Tyson was feeling nauseous while on board the Los Angeles-bound flight earlier on Sunday, May 26.

Sensing a medical emergency, his team issued asked if there was any doctor on the plane.

Tyson’s representatives have put out a statement.

“Thankfully Mr. Tyson is doing great. He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up 30 minutes before landing. He is appreciative of the medical staff that were there to help him. However, it’s false reporting that his medical attention caused the flight delay. This two-hour delay was due to an air conditioning issue on the aircraft,” the statement read.

Tyson bid adieu to professional boxing in 2005 after losing three of his last four fights. He made a comeback in 2020, featuring in an exhibition match against another MMA legend Roy Jones Jr.

Meanwhile, Jake Paul has already appeared a several bouts since making his boxing debut. His last professional assignment came last year when Paul suffered a defeat to Tommy Fury.
