Apple is expected to roll out the much-awaited iPhone 16 this year. There has been a lot of buzz regarding the addition of new features to the smartphone. Recently, some reports have suggested that the new iPhone 16 will be launched with capacitive buttons instead of physical buttons on either side of the smartphone.

These capacitive buttons will reportedly be able to provide haptic feedback when touched, emulating the feeling of pressing a physical button. Earlier, it was reported that Apple had plans to introduce the capacitive button feature in the iPhone 15 series but abandoned the plan last year.

As per 9to5Mac, recent supply chain reports from Taiwan have found that Apple has placed an order for Advanced Semiconductor Engineering with capacitive buttons. It is expected that this feature will be introduced in the new iPhone 16 series. The tech giants plan to replace the volume and power buttons of the iPhone with new capacitive buttons.

If the reports are to be believed, then the iPhone 16 will be equipped with a system-in-package (SiP) module along with capacitive buttons that are paired with two haptic engine motors, providing users with vibration feedback while pressing capacitive buttons. The company has introduced this feature with the aim of streamlining the smartphone's form factor and increasing its durability.

This is not the first time that the company has aimed to introduce a new feature to its series. In 2023, Apple introduced a new 'Action Button', which was a programmable button that replaced the mute switch in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. It has also been found that this new action button will also be introduced in the rest of the iPhone 15 series this year. While it is also rumoured that Apple will also add a new 'Capture Button, which will be centered on the camera of the phone.

However, it is important to note that there has been no official confirmation regarding the addition of new features in the iPhone 16 series. Currently, the Apple fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the new iPhone series.
