Indian Govt Warns About Major Google Chrome Security Alert: What You Need To Know

Google Chrome has been hit with another zero-day vulnerability which has set the alarm bells ringing among users and cyber experts. Even the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has come out with its own alert that has been given a high severity ranking. Zero-day issues are highlighted when these attacks have been used to expose the issue and people or companies might not be aware of the severity of these attacks.

Google Chrome Zero-Day Security Alert: What CERT-In Says

Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Google Chrome which could be exploited by a remote attacker to compromise a targeted system, the security bulletin from CERT-In highlights.

“These vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to use-after-free error in visuals and angle components; heap buffer overflow in WebAudio,” the security agency explains the issue.

GOOGLE CHROME VERSIONS AFFECTED BY SECURITY ALERT

These Chrome versions running on Windows, macOS and even Linux are affected by the zero-day security issue:

– Google Chrome versions prior to 124.0.6367.201/.202 for Windows and Mac

– Google Chrome versions prior to 124.0.6367.201 for Linux

The Chrome update has already been issued and it is imperative that millions of devices are updated to the latest version of the web browser. To be safe, users must download the latest available software update for Google Chrome on whichever platform they are on. You can do this by heading over to the three-dot menu on Chrome – Settings – About – Update Chrome.
