meet Amid the ongoing G7 outreach summit in Italy, US President Joe Biden on Friday called India its critical minerals partner. In addition to India, the US President mentioned Brazil and Argentina as well.

The G7 summit will take place at the Borgo Egnazia resort in Italy’s Apulia region from June 13 to 15.

PM Modi Expected To Meet Biden

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet with several world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.

Reportedly, the two leaders are likely to have a pull-aside meeting because of the time constraints. This will be the first meeting between the two leaders since they last met during the COP28 Summit in Abu Dhabi last year.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden and PM Modi recently had a telephonic conversation over the latter’s electoral victory in the Lok Sabha Election 2024. Biden congratulated PM Modi, with his administration saying that it was looking forward to continuing to further its partnership with India to promote prosperity and innovation, address the climate crisis and ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

PM Modi Participates In G7 Summit

Marking his first international trip since the beginning of his third consecutive term in office, Prime Minister Modi is on a visit to Italy to participate in the annual summit of G7 advanced economies.

This is India’s 11th participation in the G7 Summit and Prime Minister Modi’s fifth consecutive participation at the G7 Summit.

India’s participation at this G7 Summit acquires particular salience in the context of India’s recently held, not so recent, presidency of the G20, where India took a leading role in building global consensus on several contentious issues. India has so far organised two sessions of the Voice of the Global South Summit, which have been aimed at bringing the interests, priorities, and concerns of the Global South on the global stage.
