Two Indian students from Telangana tragically lost their lives in a car accident in Phoenix, Arizona. The fatal crash occurred when their vehicle collided head-on with another car on April 20.

The driver of their car — carrying Mukka Nivesh and Goutham Parsi — sustained injuries but has been discharged from the hospital. Both students, aged 19, were studying computer science engineering at Arizona State University.

“On April 20, 2024, at approximately 6:18 PM, Peoria Police and Peoria Fire-Medical responded to an injury collision on Castle Hot Springs Road just north of State Route 74,” the Peoria Police AZ said in a statement posted on Facebook. “This multiple-vehicle collision involved two vehicles, a white 2024 Kia Forte and a red 2022 Ford F150, in which they both collided head-on,” it added.

Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the red F150 was traveling southbound on Castle Hot Springs Road while the white Kia Forte was traveling northbound. However, the cause of this collision is still being investigated. “The red F150 had one occupant at the time of the collision. The occupant was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries but has since been released. The white Kia Forte had three occupants inside the vehicle,” the statement added.

Peoria Police said the driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries but has since been released. Police are conducting investigations to determine the cause of the collision, as condolences pour in for the victims and their families. The latest incident comes in the wake of a series of unfortunate deaths of Indian students in the United States due to a range of causes. In the first four months of this year, close to a dozen students have died.
