King Charles III could not meet Prince Harry due to his packed schedule when the latter was in London to attend an event marking 10 years of Invictus Games but took out time to meet English footballing legend David Beckham, according to a report by the UK Express.

Spokespersons of the royal family as well as of Prince Harry ruled out a meeting between Prince Harry and his ailing father King Charles III due to the latter’s busy schedule.

The report by the UK Express said King Charles III and the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star discussed the UK royal’s charitable foundations when they met.

David Beckham, the ex-captain of the England football team, has maintained strong connections with the UK Royal Family for a long time and has previously worked with both Prince Harry and King Charles on numerous occasions.

Media outlets in the UK and across the world have critically scrutinised Prince Harry’s recent visit to the UK with many speculating whether the son and father will set aside their differences as the old monarch and his daughter-in-law battle cancer.

After spokespersons for both parties said such a meeting would not be possible, Harry said that he understands his father’s commitments and hopes to meet up with him soon enough.

Following the publication of ‘Spare’, where Prince Harry revealed the state of his relationship with his father, Prince William and Kate Middleton, the ties between Prince Harry and the UK royal family have strained.

The cancer diagnosis led many to hope that the duo would turn over a new leaf in their relationship but there are no major signs of that for now. Moreover, Prince William, Harry’s elder brother, has also not spoken about his brother and their relationship and people familiar with the developments have said that William is upset with the claims made by Harry in his memoir as well as in other interviews and documentaries.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan wrapped up their three-day visit to Nigeria on Sunday, arriving in the country’s economic capital Lagos during a trip to promote his Invictus Games for wounded military veterans.

The Duke of Sussex arrived with his wife on Friday in Nigeria’s capital Abuja where they visited a school event on mental health, in a trip that also saw the prince meet wounded Nigerian soldiers in the country’s northwest.
